The Lytle Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Cotulla 83-62. Given Lytle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while Cotulla is ranked 1561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lytle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zacharee Perez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Perez hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Jayden Perez was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with three steals.
Lytle is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Cotulla, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Lytle will take on Dilley at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for Cotulla, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Natalia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 263 points over their last four matchups.
