Fairfield extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 15-3. They blew past the Fremont Eagles 19-7. Considering the Falcons have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jayna Copen, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Fought, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Fairfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
As for Fremont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.
On Fremont's side, Mallorie Huffnagle was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Drew Snyder, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Fairfield is taking a road trip to take on South Bend Saint Joseph at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fremont, they will host Southwood at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
