Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley fell victim to Redbank Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The loss continues a trend for Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley in their meetings with Redbank Valley: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Cranberry Area got the win against North Clarion on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1.

Connor Morrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Cole Findlay was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Findlay is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Baker, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cranberry Area, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cranberry Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
