The Huguenot Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 81-67 win over Powhatan. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Leading Huguenot to victory were Trevion Brown and Kaemon Smith. Brown dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Smith scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samuel Cohen, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The win got Huguenot back to even at 4-4. As for Powhatan, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Huguenot and Colonial Heights will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at. One thing working in Colonial Heights' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Powhatan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Atlee at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
