The Buhl Indians will square off against the Filer Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Buhl has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Buhl and Kimberly, and Kimberly kept the tradition alive. The Indians came up short against the Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 19-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Buhl saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zayne Meck, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Meck is becoming a predictor of the Indians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Porter Higley was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Filer made easy work of Gooding on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Wildcats have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bridger Phillips and Bryker Darrington made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Phillips pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Darrington struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Phillips has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Phillips went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Darrington went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Phillips has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Wyatt Blass was excellent, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Hyde Bangerter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Filer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gooding only posted an OBP of .385.
Filer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Buhl, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Buhl hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. However, it's not like Filer struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Buhl got the 'W' in their previous matchup on Monday against Filer by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
