The Ironton Fighting Tigers will square off against the Zane Trace Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ironton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Ironton will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Alexander on Tuesday. The Fighting Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Spartans. The Fighting Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ava Bihl made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ironton got a big performance out of Jenna Compliment, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Aubry Shavers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Ironton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 17-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Zane Trace suffered their closest loss since April 14th on Friday. They fell just short of Unioto by a score of 4-2. The Pioneers haven't had much luck with the Shermans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Like Ironton, Zane Trace also got a great game from a two-way player: Brynn Wipert. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. What's more, Wipert gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Wipert wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddison Will, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Zane Trace's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Ironton, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
Zane Trace's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ironton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393.
