The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Gwynn Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 44 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Monday as they easily beat College Park Academy 59-14 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-10.
Gwynn Park's success was spearheaded by the efforts of O'Liyah Contee, who scored ten points along with five steals, and Nala Abraham, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Contee continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Robyn Carpenter, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Osbourn Park waltzed into their game Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 59-48 win over Centreville.
Gwynn Park pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Osbourn Park, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Gwynn Park might still be hurting after the 65-39 defeat they got from Osbourn Park in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Will Gwynn Park have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
