The Atlantic Coast Stingrays struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Thursday (the Mandarin Mustangs were 24% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Atlantic Coast took a hard 64-49 fall against Mandarin. Atlantic Coast has struggled against Mandarin recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JP Pearson, who scored 17 points. Malik Aker was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Dylan McCleod was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Mandarin. Another player making a difference was Herring Kevean, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Atlantic Coast's loss was their tenth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-16. As for Mandarin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.
Atlantic Coast will head out on the road to take on First Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. First Coast is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.8 points per game. Mandarin won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Trinity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
