Beulah and Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Miners will face off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beulah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Beulah took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Garrison 25-0. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Troopers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Addie Dale-Geiger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cassie Christensen, who went 3-for-4 with eight RBI, two runs, and one double. Elli Weidner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Beulah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] took on Carrington on Monday. The Cougars came up short against the Cardinals, falling 20-11. The loss put an end to the Cougars' undefeated start to the season.
Emry Hunt stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Tomlinson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.
Having lost for the first time this season, Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] fell to 2-1. As for Beulah, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Beulah has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] struggles in that department as they've averaged .566. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Beulah took their win against Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Miners since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
