The Hancock Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Faith Christian Academy by a score of 38-35. Hancock was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Faith Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Hancock's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keelyn Seal, who scored 11 points along with eight assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Seal has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Skylar Smith, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hancock were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Hancock's loss was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Faith Christian Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-7.
Hancock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-38 defeat vs. Hundred on the 10th. Faith Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mountain View Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on February 27th.
