The Dewey Bulldoggers will head out on the road to face off against the Verdigris Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dewey is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Two weeks ago, Dewey lost to Inola at home by a decisive 35-16 margin.
Meanwhile, Verdigris strolled past Jay with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-14.
Verdigris' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Willis led the charge by picking up 108 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Rhett Teal got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Verdigris' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Will Rogers and his two sacks.
Inola's victory bumped their season record to 2-6 while Dewey's defeat dropped theirs to 1-6.
Dewey was dealt a bruising 74-6 loss at the hands of Verdigris in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Dewey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
