AAA District 14 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Craigmont was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in AAA District 14. The Chiefs beat Mitchell 20-7 earlier in the week.
Bolton took down Frayser 32-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Henderson ran for 163 yards in the win.
The Wildcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kal Granderson threw for 51 yards and Greg Williams had 31 yards receiving. Harvey Anthony helped Bolton's passing attack out by catching three balls for 21 yards.
Tavon Banks made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bolton defeated the Rams. The 5-foot-8 defensive lineman racked up two sacks.
Arlington's Drew Reed and Justin Boring have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Reed has thrown for 1379 yards this season, while Boring has 31 catches for 536 yards. Tommy Miller's team's Henderson leads the league in rushing yards with 593.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Craigmont takes on second place Arlington. Last week, Craigmont bested the Tigers, while the Tigers fell to Briarcrest Christian.
Cecil Vanhooks's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,883 from 2,252. The advance stemmed from a 20-7 victory over Mitchell last week.
