Baseball Recap: Lake Braddock Wins Going Away Against Churchill

Lake Braddock got themselves on the board against Churchill on Tuesday, but Churchill never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Churchill's batters probably weren't too happy with Beau Padgett, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up three walks). Padgett also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Braddock is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Evan George was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Matt Schaeb, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Lake Braddock and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Churchill, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Lake Braddock and Churchill will both be playing Hayfield the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bruins will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
