Esperanza can attribute much of their success to Brody Snyder, who gained 201 total yards and four touchdowns, and Travis Frazier, who threw for 450 yards and two TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. What's more, Snyder racked up 91 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Joseph Fields was another major influence, as he rushed for 48 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Segerstrom beat St. Margaret's 27-14 on Friday. The Jaguars pushed the score to 27-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tartans cut but never quite recovered from.
Esperanza better keep an eye on Ayden Morales. He was instrumental in Segerstrom's win, rushing for 106 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 68 receiving yards. Noah Martinez was another key player, rushing for 55 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
Segerstrom was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
One reason for the win was Segerstrom's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Joshua Preciado was especially locked on to St. Margaret's QB and sacked him twice. With that strong performance, Preciado is now averaging an impressive 5.3 total tackles per game.
The victory made it two in a row for Esperanza and bumps their season record up to 3-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 5.4 yards per carry in those games compared to only 0.85 in the others. As for Segerstrom, their record now sits at 4-2.
Esperanza suffered a grim 49-29 defeat to Segerstrom when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Aztecs, Noah Tagaloa (who rushed for 144 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and also caught one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
