The Orangewood Christian Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Master's Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Orangewood Christian has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Orangewood Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Lyman on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 16-15. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Greyhounds 6-1 in the first period.
Harper Katauskas and Mercedes Evers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Katauskas went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Evers went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Evers also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hadleigh Weis, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Master's Academy made easy work of Lake Highland Prep on Wednesday and carried off a 7-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lauren McMeel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Isa Moya was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Orangewood Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Master's Academy, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Orangewood Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Master's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Orangewood Christian took their win against Master's Academy in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 18-12 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
