The West Morgan Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Haleyville Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Morgan comes in on nine and Haleyville on five.
West Morgan stacked a ninth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-0 win over Wilson at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point West Morgan had established a 55 point advantage.
Jalen Fletcher got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Fletcher is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Ti'Airrius Mosley did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Haleyville strolled past Corner with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-13.
West Morgan's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Wilson and 1-8 Ardmore (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.9% over those games). As for Haleyville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
West Morgan strolled past Haleyville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 55-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Morgan since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
