The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles will square off against the Lugoff-Elgin Demons at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Gray Collegiate Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Gray Collegiate Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: A.C. Flora, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Gray Collegiate Academy was ranked fourth). The War Eagles came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.

Peyton Hendrix was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matches.
In other batting news, Aspen Boulware was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaley Anderson, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
Gray Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lugoff-Elgin). They never let Ridge View get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Tuesday. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Haleigh Miranda made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Miranda was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Izzy Brown was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Ella Sheorn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Gray Collegiate Academy pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Lugoff-Elgin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gray Collegiate Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. It's a different story for Lugoff-Elgin, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Gray Collegiate Academy's hitters?
Gray Collegiate Academy took their win against Lugoff-Elgin when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the War Eagles repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
