After a string of three wins, the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Fike by a score of 46-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for SouthWest Edgecombe in their matchups with Fike: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, SouthWest Edgecombe saw an underclassman step up: K'Deidra (KD) Collins scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The matchup was Collins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Moore Mackenzie, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Fike's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connie Pleasants led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
