After a string of six wins, the Cedarburg Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Homestead on the road and fell 90-60. While losing is never fun, Cedarburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Homestead is ranked 14th).
Homestead's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tim Franks, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Polite, who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals.
Cedarburg bumped their record down to 8-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Homestead, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Cedarburg will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Racine Park at 11:00 a.m. on January 20th. Racine Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Cedarburg likes a good challenge. As for Homestead, they will face off against Benilde-St. Margaret's at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Benilde-St. Margaret's is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
