Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Northeast Dubois Jeeps, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 42-32 to the Eagles on Friday. Northeast Dubois has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northeast Dubois' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Cummins, who scored four points along with nine steals. Cummins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emmersen Kalb, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Northeast Dubois smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Evansville Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hallie Higgs, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Higgs has scored all season. Hannah Higgs was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Northeast Dubois has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Evansville Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.
Northeast Dubois does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Evansville Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Wood Memorial is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
