Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Nation Ford Falcons , they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 37-29 to Hillcrest on Friday. While losing is never fun, Nation Ford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Hillcrest is ranked 16th).
Nation Ford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaden Barnett, who threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns, and Josh Ameo who picked up 158 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Barnett is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Thomas Stanley had an outrageously good game for Hillcrest as he rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Mcfadden, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Nation Ford now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Hillcrest, their victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Nation Ford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hillcrest will square off against James F. Byrnes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. James F. Byrnes will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
