The McCutcheon Mavericks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richmond. While losing is never fun, McCutcheon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Richmond is ranked 18th).
Despite the defeat, McCutcheon saw an underclassman step up: Brody Baker scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Baker has scored all season. Shamar Ray was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Cedric Horton was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points for Richmond. Another player making a difference was Braiden Hogg, who scored 12 points.
McCutcheon bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Richmond, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
McCutcheon and Logansport will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Logansport is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Richmond, Richmond and Muncie Central will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Muncie Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
