After a string of four wins, the East Lake Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 66-52 fall against Wesley Chapel. East Lake was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wesley Chapel apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Brown, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Church, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wesley Chapel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trey Murray, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds. Murray is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Ethan Hicks was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with four steals.
East Lake's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Wesley Chapel, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
East Lake will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Land O' Lakes at 7:45 p.m. on January 22nd. Land O' Lakes is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. Wesley Chapel won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Frostproof at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Frostproof has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
