Caliche extended the longest winning streak in A-8 North - Plains (8 Man) this week by beating Haxtun, 14-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Caliche and the Fightin' Bulldogs played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Caliche eventually emerging with a 14-12 victory.
Akron's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jared Clarkson threw for 113 and two touchdowns and Garret Basler had 83 yards receiving. On the ground Levi Hottinger chipped in 121 yards. Hottinger helped Akron's passing attack out by catching three balls for 24 yards.
Dayspring Christian Academy's Kylar Mai and Christian Hersberger have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Mai has thrown for 390 yards this season, while Hersberger, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 13 catches for 185 yards. The Rams' Hottinger leads the league in rushing yards with 435.
The marquee game in A-8 North - Plains (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Haxtun and Akron. Rod Workman's team enters the contest ranked 14th in the state, while Brian Christensen's team ranks 17th.
Merino led the league in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on Sedgwick County.
