The Daniel Lions waltzed into their matchup Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Blacksburg at home to the tune of 69-39. Daniel might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three games by 30 points or more this season.
Hayden Anderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Jackson Conley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Gilfillan, who scored 15 points. Gilfillan continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tracy Smith, who scored nine points.
Daniel has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Blacksburg, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Daniel will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on T.L. Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Blacksburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clover at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
