Sadly, the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars are still looking for their first win of the season after 17 contests. They took a serious blow against West Holt on Tuesday, falling 60-23. Niobrara/Verdigre has not had much luck with West Holt recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
It was another big night for Lincoln Konrad, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for West Holt. Mason Crumrine was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Niobrara/Verdigre dropped their record down to 0-17 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Holt, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niobrara/Verdigre will take on Boyd County at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Boyd County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday. As for West Holt, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (St. Mary's is ranked 78th, while West Holt is ranked 76th).
