George Washington can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Roxborough at home to the tune of 44-12. Given George Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Roxborough is ranked 496th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
George Washington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darelle Nutridge, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown. Nutridge's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Another reason for the win was George Washington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Cesar Patterson and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Central's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They managed a 12-6 victory over Frankford.
The win makes it two in a row for George Washington and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
George Washington didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Central in their previous matchup back in August of 2017, but they still walked away with a 21-17 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for George Washington since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
