The Custer County Bobcats struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (the Cotopaxi Pirates were 20% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Custer County falling 47-33. It was the first time this season that they let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Custer County still got an impressive performance from Christopher Mullett, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mullett has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ben Stafford, who scored two points along with four steals.
Cotopaxi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terrance Evans, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Evans has scored at least a third of Cotopaxi's points. Joel Tezak was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Custer County's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5. As for Cotopaxi, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Custer County will be playing in front of their home fans against Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sanford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Custer County in Colorado (Sanford is ranked 74th, while Custer County is ranked 257th). As for Cotopaxi, they will head out on the road to take on South Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Park is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
