It was a good run, but the West Liberty-Salem Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Mechanicsburg 55-50. West Liberty-Salem has not had much luck with Mechanicsburg recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
West Liberty-Salem lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chaley Wade, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Wade set a new season high mark in blocks with five. Lilly Weaver was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
West Liberty-Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Mechanicsburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Liberty-Salem will take on Fairbanks at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fairbanks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Mechanicsburg, they will be playing at home against Northeastern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northeastern comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
