Marmonte - East recap September 24, 2013
Simi Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 276 from 309 this week, the biggest jump in Marmonte - East. The Pioneers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Pacifica 37-31.
Royal took down Channel Islands 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Davis Pinkston threw for 362 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 36-58 with 1 interception.
Nick Rodriguez was the best receiver in the league this week as Westlake lost to La Serna. Rodriguez racked up 3 receptions for 74 yards. Cole Hair helped Westlake's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 37 yards.
Pinkston put up the best numbers in passing as Simi Valley topped the Tritons. Pinkston's favorite target this week was Davis Negrete, who caught 7 passes for 62 yards.
Pinkston was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 104 yards on 15 carries as Ryan Taggart's team fell to the Lancers. Drew Moore also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Pinkston of the Pioneers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,055. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Andre Baccellia. The Westlake star has 16 catches for 272 yards.
Simi Valley made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,336 from 4,001. The improvement came about via a 37-31 victory over Pacifica last week.
