The Arlington Eagles will square off against the Raymond Central Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Arlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Arlington turned things around against Buena Vista on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Bison. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Wes Monke made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-5. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Tim Halley was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. He has become a key player for Arlington: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-4 otherwise. Peyton Marfisi was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Raymond Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 15-3 to Platte Valley.
Raymond Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Sykes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
The win got Arlington back to even at 5-5. As for Raymond Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Arlington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Raymond Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
