Baseball Recap: Bonita Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Bonita won against Walnut last Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Bearcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Bearcats have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Bonita got a great performance from Sammy Duenas as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Duenas has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Landen Lambert and Cody White did most of the damage at the plate: Lambert went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while White scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That triple was Lambert's first of the season.

Bonita pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Bonita and Walnut will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Bearcats see the field they'll take on Glendora at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Walnut, their break will end when they face Diamond Bar at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
