Ventura moved up to 268 from 366 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Channel. The Cougars were able to move up by besting Nipomo 56-14.
Ventura added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Titans, 56-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Tyler Peralta provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cougars bested Nipomo. Peralta's key target this week was Zack Sourwine, who caught 3 passes for 39 yards.
Blayne Bennett was the best wideout in the league this week as Buena beat Morro Bay. Bennett racked up 1 reception for 57 yards. Tyler Bolton helped Buena's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 26 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Wesley Ghan-Gibson of San Marcos is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,791. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bennett. The Buena star has 44 catches for 717 yards.
Esteban Alfaro has rushed for 943 yards on 168 carries so far this year.
Ventura took down Russell Edwards' team 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Peralta ran for 185 yards in the win.
