Sierra extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 5-11. They came up short against the Chowchilla Tribe, falling 24-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tribe this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-3 on Tuesday.
Sierra saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tinsley Stone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
As for Chowchilla, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Chowchilla, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Chowchilla's side, Ava Diaz and Heaven Moore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Diaz didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Moore tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Diaz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Diaz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Moore fired off two home runs, five runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Moore a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kasey Vlot was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenesis Guardado, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sierra will challenge rival Yosemite at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Chowchilla is set to take on their familiar foe Caruthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
