Fernley is a perfect 10-0 against Dayton since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Vaqueros will square off against the Dust Devils at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Fernley and Spring Creek, and Fernley kept the tradition alive. The Vaqueros were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Spartans on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Vaqueros in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.
Not much got past Janessa Robinson, who gave up just three hits to keep Spring Creek off the board. Robinson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taylor Tollestrup was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ximena Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Fernley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Dayton not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 15-3). They blew past Virginia City 13-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Dust Devils considering their two-run performance the game before.
Sofia Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macie Hannum, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Alisi Tulimafua-Curran was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Fernley's record is now 15-5. As for Dayton, their record now sits at 11-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fernley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dayton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fernley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Dayton by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Vaqueros repeat their success, or do the Dust Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
