In what's become a running theme this season, the Omaha Westside Warriors gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Omaha South with a sharp 64-40 victory. With Omaha Westside ahead 38-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Leading Omaha Westside to victory were Elise Pederson and Kara Stricklin. Pederson scored 14 points, while Stricklin scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pederson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lakelyn Joslin, who scored five points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Omaha South saw an underclassman step up: Sierra Thomas scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Eve Hodoly, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Omaha Westside has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Omaha South, they bumped their record down to 5-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Omaha Westside will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Millard North. One thing working in Millard North's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. Omaha South won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Millard South at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Millard South is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
