With a playoff game on the line, Springstead rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 83-65. Springstead's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Austin Nicholson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Cordello, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 2 assists.
Wesley Chapel typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Wiregrass Ranch proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Wildcats 87-71. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wiregrass Ranch.
Wiregrass Ranch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Donovan Gaines out in front who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaines has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Preston Linville, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Springstead's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Springstead strolled past Wiregrass Ranch in their previous meeting back in December of 2020 by a score of 71-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springstead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
