The University Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Fort Morgan Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Fort Morgan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on University, who comes in off a win.
University took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Liberty Common with a sharp 14-5 win. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Aiden Solano looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kaden Turk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Duran, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
University was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Common only posted a batting average of .174.
Meanwhile, Fort Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Alameda, falling 16-4.
Fort Morgan saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jadin Carrera, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
University pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. University has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fort Morgan struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
University skirted past Fort Morgan 7-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
