The Vela Sabercats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 36 points or more this season. They breezed by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on the road to the tune of 74-14. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-6.
Janai Coleman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Vela's points. Gg Betancourt was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and five steals.
Vela pushed their record up to 23-4 with that win, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.76 points. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Vela will be playing at home against McAllen Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McAllen Memorial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 689th, while Vela is ranked 258th). As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sharyland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
