After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Annapolis Christian Academy, the Sunnybrook Christian Lions were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They snuck past Compass Rose Legacy with a 34-28 win.
Compass Rose Legacy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angela Ruiz, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and 14 blocks. Ruiz is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Frausto, who scored 14 points.
Sunnybrook Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-9 record this season. As for Compass Rose Legacy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Sunnybrook Christian will be playing at home against the Hoplites at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Founders Classical Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Friday. Compass Rose Legacy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th.
