Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Rondel Jones Jr., who scored 13 points. Ben Johnson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Fairfax Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 76-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springdale Prep on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Fairfax Christian came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in Virginia, while Springdale Prep is ranked 78th in Maryland).
Fairfax Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ke'Juan Richburg, who scored eight points along with five assists and five steals, and Elijah Adegbenro who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Frank Siaca Bey, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Virginia Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Fairfax Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 26-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Virginia Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fairfax Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
