Basketball Recap: Adams Takes a Loss

Adams lost against North Mesquite on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Adams Cougars were outmatched by the North Mesquite Stallions and fell 72-23. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Adams' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Victor Offord, who posted three points and three steals, and Chris Robinson, who earned five points. Offord has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Leading North Mesquite to victory were Jeremiah Grigsby and Christian Brooks. Grigsby went 7 of 13 en route to 23 points and four steals, while Brooks dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. Grigsby continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chris Bendaw, who put up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Adams and nudges their season record down to 6-20. As for North Mesquite, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-9.

Adams will head out to challenge Samuell at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Adams is facing Samuell at the right time seeing as Samuell is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for North Mesquite, they will be playing at home against West Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mesquite will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something North Mesquite surely won't give up without a fight.
