It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Greenup County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Montgomery County Indians 13-12. With that victory, the Musketeers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Gavin Roy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Greenup County is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Roy was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Greenup County got a massive performance out of Hunter Holbrook, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Holbrook has become a key player for the Musketeers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Hatfield, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Greenup County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 13.8.
Greenup County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Montgomery County, they moved to 18-6 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
