Softball Recap: Maryville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Maryville waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bearden Bulldogs. With that win, the Red Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Isabella Saunders made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Maples, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Harper White, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Maryville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive games.

Maryville's record is now 7-3. As for Bearden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Maryville will take on rival William Blount at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Maryville has won 12 straight at home dating back to last season, while William Blount won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Bearden is set to face off against their familiar foe West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
