The Henry County Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the McNairy Central Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Henry County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Henry County blew Lexington out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lexington got their revenge. Henry County fell just short of Lexington by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Patriots have suffered against the Tigers since April 15, 2017.

Reed Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Layne Latimer was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Henry County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McNairy Central faced off against Hardin County on Thursday. McNairy Central fell just short of Hardin County by a score of 7-6.

Carlee Shelton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Mercer, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

McNairy Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Henry County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Henry County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like McNairy Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .398. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
