Fort Edward and Argyle are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but not for long. The Flying Forts will head out on the road to take on the Scots at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Edward will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
On Wednesday, Fort Edward got the win against Corinth by a conclusive 3-0.
Elizabeth Brown and MacKenzie Keeley were among the main playmakers for Fort Edward as the former had seven digs and four aces and the latter had six digs. Those four aces gave Brown a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Argyle made easy work of Granville on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win.
While Argyle won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-10, 25-19.
Argyle's win came from a few key players Fort Edward will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kyleigh Dennis, who had ten aces and one assist. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Austin, who had six aces and three digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Argyle was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Fort Edward's record is now 6-0. As for Argyle, their record now sits at 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Fort Edward has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Argyle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 16.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fort Edward came out on top in a nail-biter against Argyle when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Flying Forts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
