After a string of three wins, Springfield International's good fortune finally ran out. They received a tough blow as they fell 59-41 to Central. While losing is never fun, Springfield International can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked third).
Despite the loss, Springfield International had strong showings from Zahara Kibodya-Wilson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Alexa Davis, who scored 12 points along with four blocks and three steals. Another player making a difference was Giavanna Mars, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chicopee Comp scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They strolled past Pittsfield with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. That looming 69-50 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Chicopee Comp yet this season.
Springfield International's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Chicopee Comp, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
