After five games on the road, West Forsyth is heading back home. They will take on the Davie War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Forsyth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, West Forsyth was able to grind out a solid victory over the Raiders, taking the game 34-27.
West Forsyth can attribute much of their success to Emma Staples, who scored 18 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Staples has scored at least a third of West Forsyth's points. Another player making a difference was Campbell McClain, who scored three points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Davie took a serious blow against the Spartans on Friday, falling 70-39. While losing is never fun, Davie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Spartans are ranked 59th).
Malayka Rankin put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Peyton Spaugh was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
West Forsyth's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. As for Davie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
