The Milan Indians will head out to take on the Batesville Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Milan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Milan barely beat Trinity Lutheran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Cougars on Monday. The Indians have beaten the Cougars the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.
Kynadee Bode and Mallory Eaglin did most of the damage at the plate: Bode got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Eaglin went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Voss, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Milan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Batesville came up short against Union County on Thursday and fell 6-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Caitlyn Fox made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Jadah Zins also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Batesville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Milan, their win bumped their record up to 20-9.
Batesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Milan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Batesville, though, as they've only averaged .307. Will they be able to contain Milan's hitters?
Milan might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Batesville when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
