The Baker Gators had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a tough 50-29 defeat at the hands of Paxton.
Paxton can attribute much of their success to Hydie Varnum, who scored 14 points along with 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Varnum has scored at least 25% of Paxton's points. Alyssa Carson was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 3 steals.
Baker's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Paxton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Baker will be playing at home against Aletheia Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paxton, they will head out on the road to face off against West Florida Baptist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Florida Baptist Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
